[Current Mood |disappointeddisappointed]

It was wonderful to be in Dodger Stadium for the victories in Game 1 and Game 6 of the World Series.

I will not describe Game 2 or Game 7.

Dodgers [Sep. 30th, 2017|11:52 pm]

The Dodgers won their 103rd game today, the most victories in a season since moving to Los Angeles in 1958. (The 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers have the franchise record. They finished that year 105-49.)

If the Dodgers get into the World Series, then I will fly to L.A. and see all their home games, regardless of cost.

I attended three games at CitiField this weekend because the Dodgers were in town to face the Mets. It was wonderful! The Dodgers won all three games, 6-0, 7-4, and 8-0.

On Friday, I turned 67.
Many New Yorkers of Irish ancestry held a parade up Fifth Avenue in my honor.

election [Nov. 10th, 2016|07:57 am]

I voted for Gary Johnson on Tuesday. It was reasonable to hope that he would break through the 5% barrier this year, but he wound up with only 3%. Even in his home state of New Mexico, where he was once elected governor, he only got 9% of the vote. Very sad.

Blue and White [Sep. 27th, 2016|06:40 am]

On Sunday, September 25th:

I was in MCU Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn, and saw the national amateur baseball team of Israel win the World Baseball Classic Qualifying tournament by beating the national amateur baseball team of Great Britain by the score of 9-1.

While in the stands there, I kept checking the Dodgers' score. The Dodgers had a home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to tie their game, and then a home run with two outs in the bottom of the tenth inning to win it. That game clinched the NL West for the Dodgers, their fourth consecutive NL West title.

Victory for the teams in Blue and White on both coasts.

wedding [Jun. 20th, 2016|04:51 pm]

For the first time in my (sheltered?) life on Saturday I attended a gay wedding. One of the grooms was a former colleague at Fordham University. The ceremony was held on the roof top garden of a hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey, adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean. The weather was perfect and the ceremony was very moving. It was performed by a former Catholic, now Episcopal priest, married to another man himself.

Asbury Park has changed quite a lot since I was there last. Not a surprise, since I was there last in 1963 for my cousin Donald's bar mitzvah.
